Interwoven Against Injustice

There is something magical about witnessing the positive outcome of your efforts. The joy of celebrating successes and tallying wins for your goals and visions of an ideal future. The internal exuberance and motivation created by these successes are potent.
But not all efforts end in success.
Not all efforts even have an end.
Some stretch onward, the end invisible past the horizon. Some moments of turmoil are so devastating that it’s hard to imagine an outcome that isn’t catastrophic, let alone imagine a positive one.
Sometimes you feel powerless - like nothing you do matters. Everything seems headed in the opposite direction of your values.
That feeling is crushing… but you are not defeated.
Not yet.
You must continue to fight the battles your heart knows are just.
Your actions matter. You fight for the good of your community, for the good of humanity, and that is more powerful than the horrors you endure. There are always opportunities for growth and progress. Strike at parts of society that need to change. Keep trying.
You may need a break. Too much horror and fear, anger and uncertainty… too much heartache eats away at a person’s soul. Take that break. Rest and recover; do something that fills your heart with joy and gratitude for this wonderful world and life. Remind yourself why this matters, and when you are ready, rejoin the fight.
You are not alone.
There is a large community of people surrounding you with overlapping goals and values. Each has different priorities, different strengths, different passions, and goals. When you find similarities in the differences, it creates an interwoven web of connection.
Like a woven basket, we support each other and make progress on one another’s goals. There is no dividing line down the basket, separating us against the other. Every weave supports the next, and collectively we hold each other up, and carry those who cannot carry on alone. We can amplify voices that are being silenced.
We can protect those among us who need it most.
We are all here:
fighting;
protesting;
advocating;
supporting;
learning;
growing;
connecting.
Carry on with passion and gratitude alongside rage.
We are not alone.
